Coffee & The Heart
For years we have told patients with palpitations to restrict their caffeine intake as this may make them work. A new study in the New England Journal of Medicine changes this perception. In healthy adults coffee when consumed in moderation does not cause an increase in palpations or result in an immediate risk of dangerous heart rhythms.
Benefits Of Coffee.
In the recent study it was found that participants who consumed coffee were more active, on average having 1,058 more steps per day. This could lead to a significant benefit to your overall health.
There may also be anti-inflammatory properties in coffee which may be protective against Type 2 diabetes a known cardiovascular risk factor.

Consuming coffee in moderation (less than 3 cups per day) does not seem to increase palpitations or put your heart at risk of dangerous rhythms in healthy patients.
Consult your physician if you have any concerns or adverse side effects form coffee.
